Latest Update: 03/03/2010

The agenda of our next General Meeting at 8:30 AM on January 10th has changed. This meeting will feature Karrie Thomas and Justin Wages from the Placer Land Trust. This is a land conservancy group with management responsibility for the preservation of certain Placer County properties. The angle here is that we may be able to participate in occasional opportunities to shoot on privately held land. Part of what is coming up is a hosted series of shoots in which we may participate. Come find out what's going on here.
Also at the February meeting we will be auctioning two versions of Adobe CS4: one for the Mac platform, and one for the PC. These are fully licensed editions that retail for $1,699 and $2,499 respectively. Starting bid is $100 for either set of installation discs. Here's a chance for you to get a fantastic software suite for pennies on the dollar. Bring your checkbook!

We have five Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings scheduled each month:
The first two SIG meetings take place on the first Wednesday of each month in Kilaga's Presentation Hall.
The Photo Enhancement SIG has its regular meeting from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. This SIG covers anything and everything you might want to do to an image after capture but before printing or other forms of display.
The Art of Seeing SIG starts right after that, at 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., and focuses on the concepts of composition, the elements of "winning images", how to improve the "wow factor" in your photos, how to "see" the image in your viewfinder and the elements of objective image critiquing.
Our third SIG meeting takes place on the third Wednesday of each month in the OCL Multi-Media Room. It is the Nikon Users Group (NUG) which starts at 2:00 p.m. and goes to 3:30 p.m. This SIG is for any Nikon owner (or wannabe) who 'wants to be more in control of the camera, and not have the camera be in control of you'. We review and practice controls, settings, menus, etc. specific to Nikon cameras, and how to use them to achieve the effect you want in different shooting situations. Please bring your camera with you to these meetings.
The other two SIG meetings will be on the 4th Wednesday of each month in the OCL Multi-Media Room:
The Photo SIG is an Open Round Table discussion on pretty much anything to do with photography, and meets at 8:30 a.m.
The Print SIG meets at 10:45 am. The focus is on the printed image as the representation of the final product of the photographic process. Attendees at the Print SIG are invited to bring questions, exchange ideas, and share technical expertise on all aspects of the printing process; and to view and critique printed images prepared by LHPG members.
Once again we have a display of over 60 pieces hanging on the walls of Mina's Coffee Shop on Del Webb Blvd., and we'll be there until mid-March. Come have a cup of something at Mina's and enjoy the show. Contributing artists for this event are: Carole Haskell, John Campbell, Rhonda Campbell, Jay Weaver, David Masche, Patrick Jewell, Larry White, Joy Paris, Bob Crisp, Gary Kost, Jack Wartlieb, Ron Parker, Sande Parker, Pat Monda, Rudi Franke and Bill Jensen.
The new Reference Library is now available. In it is a list of reference books, grouped by subject, that are recommended by some of our members. Please take a look, and feel free to recommend a book that you feel would be helpful to others.
Your Webmaster is back...still not 100%...but having enough energy to get our website current. I have more work to do to get the Gallery up to date.
