Febuary 8th General Meeting    8:30AM-10:30AM - Presentation Hall (KS)

Steve Greenfield will be our featured speaker at this meeting, bringing us part deux of our Portraiture mini-series.  Steve's topic will be "Posing Your Subjects."

The 2012 Photo Project

This year’s photo project is the City of Sacramento.  You pick the subject matter, but it must be in/of Sacramento proper.  Architecture, Arts, Celebrations, Events, Trails, Neighborhoods, Seasons, Parks & Playgrounds...find a niche.

EXHIBITION VENUES with LHPG member works on display:

Work by Rhonda and John Campbell is on display at Mina's Salon as well as Buonarroti Ristorante in Lincoln.

Through the good graces of Vicki White and Klara Kleman, the LHPG will be offering a Portraiture Workshop provided by Sierra College instructor Tom Blackburn.  This will be a 3+ hour experience to learn some of the essentials of creating pleasing portraits.  This offering will equally benefit the pocket camera shooters and the digital DSLR dreebs, some of which are the same!  The emphasis will be on natural lighting to which we all have access (mushroom people excepted), posing the subject, and more.  There is a ten dollar reservation fee which will be cheerfully refunded following actual attendance.  Get your ten bucks to Klara before the session is closed.  There will also be a March 15th critique (oh, no - not that word again!) of the resulting photos by Tom and the workshop participants.

Opportunities abound for ascending to lofty positions in the July 2012-June 2013 year for the LHPG.  We're looking for new talent to fill many positions, including - but not at all limited to - President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Program Chair, Primary Whiner, PE SIG Chair, Web Drone (a cut and paste avocation), Compass and Sun Sr. News article writer, and General (or other ranks) Helper.  Honestly, folks, any contribution will be greatly appreciated.  Help enrich the LHPG experience by giving something back for all you've received.

We have four Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that meet every month except December. All of our SIGs meet in the Multi-Media Room at Orchard Creek Lodge (OC).

1st Wednesday: the Photo Enhancement SIG meets from 8:30AM to 10:00AM. This SIG addresses anything and everything you might need to do for/to an image after capture.  The 'photoshopping,' or Picasa-ing' is sometimes used to correct unavoidable flaws, or cropping for a better composition, or substantially altering the image for some other purpose.

3rd Wednesday: the Camera SIG meets from 2:00PM to 3:30PM. This SIG is for camera owners (or wannabes) who want to learn how to use their cameras. We review and practice controls, settings, menus, etc. applicable to all cameras. We also learn how to use them to achieve the effect wanted in different shooting situations. Please bring your camera with you to these meetings.

4th Wednesday: two SIGs meet this day -
The Round Table SIG meets from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. This is a free-wheeling, open-discussion group that talks about pretty much anything to do with photography.

The Print SIG meets from 10:45AM to 11:30AM. Its focus is on the printed image as a final product of the photographic process. Attendees at the Print SIG are invited to bring questions, exchange ideas, and share technical expertise on all aspects of printing photographs, and to view and critique printed images created by LHPG members.
